On 7 March 2013, residents of Silesian cities were able to see the No. 0 (zero) tram as it was rolling down the tracks illuminated by bright white light. Although it came to a halt at every stop, the tram’s doors would remain shut, making it impossible for anyone to could get on, and its destination indicator stated ‘Nowhere’.
The happening was staged as part of “public preposition”, a series of events prepared by the German artist Mischa Kuball, best known for his works involving light in public space, which, due to their annoying effect on the passers-by, prompt them to interact. In an interview conducted by Bogna Świątkowska, Kuball will reveal what the purpose of such provocations in public space actually is.
The event will mark the launch of a publication to sum up the “public preposition” project, which, besides Katowice, was also held in Boston, Christchurch, Marfa, Toronto and Venice.
