Do you have an idea for an application or interactive installation? Would you like to study programming together with friends? Do you need professional support from experts, but don’t know who to turn to for help? Medialab Katowice microgrants are designed for digital projects delivered or received by people aged 16 to 24.
This age group is often deprived of development opportunities offered by the market or professional organisations. The aim of the programme is therefore to reach out to those younger users and creators of technology in order to give them the opportunity to carry out their own projects and get involved in other Medialab activities.
Grants of up to PLN 4000 or professional support from Medialab experts can be received by both organisations and private individuals. The competition is open to initiatives of various nature, from artistic and educational projects to experimental activities, e.g. applications, digital services, workshops, studies or works of art. Preference is given to experimental projects of an interdisciplinary nature promoting openness and collaboration or engaging the local community.
Eligible projects, which shall be submitted via an online form, will be evaluated by a team of four experts (two specialists from outside Katowice and two Medialab employees) against a set of pre-defined criteria. During the selection process, Medialab will hold open consultation meetings for interested parties. The two editions of the programme will provide grants in the total amount of PLN 50,000.
Please note that the deadline for the receipt of applications is 30 April.
Eligible projects include the following:
– workshops (e.g. for your group of mates, in class, after classes, etc., for your students),
– mobile and web applications (if your application is related to Katowice, you will score additional points! Find out more in the project evaluation tab),
– artistic installations (e.g. a sculpture presented in a public space or in a Katowice gallery),
– studies (e.g. on cultural participation, data analysis projects),
– other (interdisciplinary projects).
